S. Justin Selvaraj is an Indian film director, writer, actor, and producer in Kollywood, the Tamil film industry. His screen name is S.J. Surya. He is known for his outspoken attitude and broad outlook. Surya's first film Vaali, with Ajith playing the lead in Tamil, was a runaway hit playing for 270 days.

Suryah followed that with the multi-lingual, Khushi which was a huge money-spinner in Tamil and Telugu. After a hiatus for nearly 2 years, he came up with another blockbuster, New in which Suryah played the lead role apart from directing and producing the film.

The film's opening is considered to be one of the biggest in Tamil cinema in recent years, with over Rs.1.1 crore being collected on the first day at the box-office.
